Hardy Day

JM Gillies Australias leading wholesaler of the finest flyfishing and fishing tackle.
Invited AndyMurray to OZ two years ago and we were lucky enough to arrange a visit and have a fish and get a look at the new Gem series.
We made sure that on his next visit he could share his vision and knowledge with a small group of Millbrooks friends.
A big thank you to Pat Levy and Bob Cummins from JM Gillies and a special thanks to Andy.
We hope Andy will visit again in the future and look forward to perhaps taking his visit to a larger audience.
Andy Murray

Andy Murray was born in County Durham in the North of England. His grandfather was a gillie and gamekeeper and through him Andy’s passion for fishing evolved at an early age.

He has been Hardy’s professional caster and instructor for the past twenty-one years where he is also the chief tester for all the rods and reels and has a large input into the designs of both. His teaching ability was finely honed by the late Johnny Logan and his predecessor Captain Tommy Edwards. He is acknowledged in Europe as one of the world’s leading exponents of Spey casting. He runs courses in casting on the rivers Tay and Spey in the UK as well as conducting casting clinics and demonstrations all over the world.

In 1998 Andy gave a Spey casting demonstration at the American Fly Fishing Museum and talks to the New York Fly Fisher’s Club. He has appeared many times on BBC and European television and made a documentary for Japanese television called ‘The Santori World of Fly Fishing’.

Andy now lives in the Scottish borders close to his beloved Tweed with his wife and two children who also fish.

His courses in America will include Spey casting both single and double, Kicked Roll casting, Spiral casts, also special all-condition casting.
