Siemens Medical Solutions

After several trips over the years, the Siemens crew were back on Saturday 20 March. The day dawned cool and cloudy, with some promise of autumn duns after a week of bright weather. Late morning on Cabin Lake, and it looked like that promise might be fulfilled, with a few duns popping and trout starting to rise. Bert broke off a good fish on a nymph, not to be outdone by Cameron who straightened a hook on a beauty soon after.
After an early lunch, Philip headed to Yuulong with the beginners, while Dennis drove to the Forbes lakes with the 'guns' in search of duns. Alas, the cloud broke up near the Great Divide, so no mayfly. However the polaroiding was reasonable in the bright conditions. Bert took two nice fish, and Pat landed one towards the end of the session. Meanwhile, the beginners were firing over at Yuulong, where the trout were continuing their month-long habit of hammering the smelt. Gary landed a 3 pounder on his first cast, followed minutes later by a 2 pounder to Michael, and a 4 pounder to Stewart.
The evening clouded up and the temperature dropped. However, Yuulong continued to produce, and Cameron, having selflessly waited until all his guests had caught trout, finally decided to land a couple of his own. Over at Bluegum, Michael and Stewart had some close encounters of the mudeye-feeder kind. But sadly, not even 10 lb Maxima is always enough to stop the Bluegum monsters from reaching the underwater logs.
All up, a great day with a total of 16 trout landed by 6 anglers. Special mentions to Bert, with 6 trout grassed, and Stewart, who managed two 4 pound rainbows on his very first day with a fly-rod.
