When Alan Littley arrived on 23 April with 9 guests, he must have wondered what he'd done to upset the fishing gods.
Back in February, Alan's first attempt at fly fishing occured on Millbrook's hottest day of the year. While he excelled that day, and actually got a fish almost to the bank before losing it, the heat drove him from the water by 4pm. Two months later, Alan turns up to find rain pouring down, and the temperature in single figures! Fortunately, trout don't mind rain, and Alan wasn't complaining either by the time he landed his 4th trout for the day - a 6 pound Cabin Lake rainbow on a Scintilla Stick Caddis retrieved through the island channel (pictured). Even Millbrook regular Andy Penn was hard-pressed to keep up at first, though Andy's 6 pound buck rainbow smelter on a Tom Jones (pictured), did prove that he hadn't lost his touch. In all, probably the best Cabin has fished this season, producing 9 of the 12 trout landed that day.
